Configuring your browser to use
the SimplyExpats.net proxies

The SimplyExpats.net proxies are configured very simply within your web browser.
Please use the step by setp guides below to configure your specific browser.

 

This service has been superseded by our UK Access Services, which provide a faster connection back to the UK. You can still watch your favourite online TV, but you can now also access sites and applications not previously available using our Proxy Service.

1.0 Activate your User Control Panel

Login to the User Control Panel by clicking on the link below:

Login to the SimplyExpats.Net Control Panel

The Login window will be displayed as below.

Login using the Username and Password you received from PayPal.

(Your Username and Password are also recorded in your PayPal Account).

2.0 Confirm your Account Details & Activate your Account

Once you have successfully logged in, the SimplyExpats.Net Account Confirmation window will be displayed.

Select the service you intend to use from the Active Service drop down box, and confirm your details.

(Note: By default your Active Service will be set to our Web Proxy Service. However, You can change this setting whenever you wish to access the network using an alternative method. For example, when staying in a Hotel where VPN access is not available.Our Quick Reference Guide >> HERE << gives a basic summary of the differences between the two services.)

 

Press the Confirm Details & Activate your Account button.

Once your account is activated, you will be returned to the main SimplyExpats.Net User Control Panel window.

3.0 Your Account Username and Password

Please note that your Username and Password are generated by PayPal, and will be displayed by PayPal on completion of the subscription process.

You can also find your Username and password in your PayPal account, under Your Subscriptions.

User accounts are usually activated and available for use within five minutes of PayPal creating your new SimplyExpats.net account.

Please also note that because your SimplyExpats.net account is set up automatically, by the PayPal subscriptions system, we do not send new account confirmation emails.

4.0 SimplyExpats.net Proxy Servers and Port Numbers

The address for the SimplyExpats.net proxy servers is currently as follows:

Server Address:uk-proxy.esixgroup.net

Server Port: 3128

5.0 Your Username & Password

Your Username and password are automatically generated by PayPal. These details are displayed by PayPal, on completion of the subscription process.You can also find these details, under the Subscriptions Section of your PayPal account.

Please remember to save your Username and Password settings in your browser the first time you login!

6.0 How to set up Internet Explorer for using the ESIX proxy?

Load Internet Explorer

Click “Tools”
Select “Internet Options”;
Select the “Connections” Tab;
Press the “LAN Settings” button in the “Local Area Network (LAN) Settings” group box;

Check the  ”use a proxy server” button;

In  the “Address” field enter: uk-proxy.esixgroup.net

In the Port field, type 3128

Check the “Bypass proxy server for local addresses”;

Your settings should look like the screen print below:

Click “OK” to close the connections window;
Click “OK” to close the options window;

Restart Internet Explorer.

If your settings are correct, you will be prompted for your username and password the first time you connect to a website.

Your Username and Password can be found under the Your Subscriptions section in your PayPal account.

Enter your username and password, and click the Remember Settings box.

7.0 How to set up Mozilla Firefox for using the ESIX proxy?

1. Open a window of adjustment of the program: Tools -> Options
2. In the opened window choose the Network tab under the Advanced button.
3. Click the Network button and press Settings…
4. Choose radio button Manual Proxy Configuration,Enter uk-proxy.esixgroup.net for the HTTP Proxy, and 3128 for the Port
5. Save settings

8.0 How do I set up Google Chrome to use the Proxy Service?

Select Settings Icon (Looks like a spanner) from the menu bar.
Select Options from the menu bar
Select the “Under the Bonnet” Tab
Press the Change Proxy Settings button
Press the LAN Settings button
The network settings dialog will be displayed.

Check the  ”use a proxy server” button;

In  the “Address” field enter: uk-proxy.esixgroup.net

In the Port field, type 3128

Check the “Bypass proxy server for local addresses”;

Your settings should look like the screen print below:

Click “OK” to close the connections window;
Click “OK” to close the options window;

Restart Internet Explorer.

9.0 How to set up Netscape Navigator for using the ESIX proxy?

1. Click “Edit” \ “Preferences”;
2. Click “Category” \ “Advanced” \ “Proxies”;
3. Set “Manual proxy configuration”;
4. Click “View” at “Manual proxy configuration”;
5. Set proxies for following protocols: HTTP, FTP, etc.

10.0 How to set up Opera for using the ESIX proxy?

1. Open a window of adjustment of the program: Tools -> Preferences
2. In the opened window choose tab Advanced, choose item Network and click the button Proxy servers.
3. In the window of adjustments of connection choose check-boxes: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP and consistently fill selected fields.
4. Save settings.

Don’t forget to save your login details in your browser by checking the “Save Username and Password” checkbox, the first time you login.

11.0 How to set up Firefox on a MAC to use the Esix Proxy

Go to “Preferences” in Firefox.

Select “Advanced” and then “Network.”

Select “Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet”, and then “Settings.”

Click the “Network” sub-tab, and then click “Settings.”

Select “Manual Proxy Configurationt.”

Enter uk-proxy.esixgroup.net for the Server Address
and 3128 for the Port Number

Then click “OK.”

Close any remaining pop-up windows.

12.0 How to set up Safari for Mac to use the Esix Proxy

Open Safari
Click on Preferences
In the menu bar at the top of the window, Click on Advanced
Click on the Change Settings button next to the Proxies label
Click on the check box button next to Web Proxy (HTTP)
Enter uk-proxy.esixgroup.net into the field next to that check box button.
Enter 3128 into the field labelled Port next to that.
