Setting up your Mac to use the SimplyExpats.net Professional Service
Part 2 – Setting up the SimplyExpats.net VPN Access Service
Note: These setup instructions are for the SimplyExpats and Esix Group Professional Service ONLY. SimplyExpats.net Home Access Service subscribers users should use the setup instructions <<HERE >>
1.0 Ensure that your User Control Panel is Activated
If you followed the previous Setup Guide for the SimplyExpats.net Anti Virus Service, your User Control Panel will have been activated as per Sections 1 & 2.
Your User Control Panel, MUST be activated, in order to login to the Professional VPN Service.
2.0 Configuring your Apple Mac to use the ESIX VPN Professional Service
Setting up your Apple Mac to use the Esix VPN Professional service is simple.
2.1 Download the Esix OpenVPN GUI Software
The ESIX VPN Professional Service uses the latest OpenVPN software.
Download our Tunnelblick OpenVPN software from our Website by clicking the link HERE>>,
The TunnelBlick installer will be saved to your Downloads Folder. Once downloaded, drag this from your Downloads folder, to your DESKTOP.
Double Click on the Tunnelblick disk image, to start the install.
The Tunnelblick installer will load.

Double click the Tunnelblick Icon to start the install.
The download security check window appears, press Open.

The Install window is displayed to confirm that you want to install the software. enter your password and press OK.

The install will complete.

The progress window is displayed. Press Quit.
The software installation is complete, and you now need to download the ESIX configuration files.
3.3 Download and save the ESIX VPN Professional configuration files
To ensure that you connect successfully to our UK VPN Access professional service, we have created all the files that you need to connect.
Simply download the configuration files by clicking the link << HERE >>.
Open your downloads folder in a finder Window, and click on the Esix_Configs folder.
There should be three files in the Esix_Configs folder, They are named ca.crt, Esix_VPN_Pro.ovpn, and Esix_VPN_Backup.ovpn.
Open a second Finder Window, and navigate to PLACES -> (Your User Name) -> Library -> Openvpn -> Configurations
Copy the Esix configuration files from your Downloads folder to the Tunnelblick OpenVPN installation folder (PLACES -> Your User Name -> Library -> Openvpn -> Configurations).
The set up is now complete and you should be able to connect to the ESIX VPN Professional service.
4.0 Connecting to the ESIX VPN Professional Service
4.1 Connecting to the Service
To connect to the ESIX VPN Professional service, simply click on the Tunnelblick icon on the top right of the Apple Bar, as below.

The first time you run the Tunnelblick software, the following window will be displayed.

Enter your Mac password and press OK.
To connect to the Esix VPN Professional service, you can now simply lick on the Tunnelblick icon on the top right of the Apple Bar, as below.

Select the Esix_VPN_Pro service to connect.

The Login dialog will be displayed as below.

Enter your SimplyExpats.net username and password, and tick the save in keychain option.
Press OK to connect.
4.2 Disconnecting from the Service
To disconnect from the service, simply click on the Tunnelblick icon on the Apple Bar, select the ESIX VPN Professional service, and press Disconnect.

5.0 Connecting to the ESIX VPN Professional Backup Connection
Some users (usually in hotels and some countries where Internet restrictions are imposed) may not be able to connect to our service using the standard ESIX VPN Professional connection.
In such cases, we recommend you connect using the Backup ESIX VPN Professional connection. This connection is marginally slower than our standard service connection due to the nature of the way it connects to the service, so should only be used if you cannot connect to our standard connection.

Select the ESIX VPN Professional Backup connection from the Tunneclblick OpenVPN application and press connect.
6.0 Access to UK iPlayers
Whilst most iPlayers will connect with no issues when using the Professional Service with the Anti Virus Service enabled, we are aware that one or two may be adversely effected. This is due to technical inconsistencies in streaming software used by these sites. In this case, we suggest that you temporally disable the Anti Virus Service in your Web Browser, and then connect the VPN Professional Service.
